Did you know that May is National Preservation Month?

The theme for this year’s Preservation Month is “Celebrating America’s Treasures.” We want to take this month to shine a light on the people, communities, and organizations that are preserving the places that matter to them.

Don’t worry if you didn’t - it’s not too late to join in and celebrate the places that matter to you. There are still 2 simple ways that you can get involved:

  1. Visit preservationnation.org & share how you would like to celebrate the places that matter to you(Go on a walking tour of your favorite historic garden? Attend a weatherization workshop to learn about protecting your home? You tell them!)

  2. Make a special donation to the Blue Island Historical Society - become a member and help save the Blue Island History Museum. Your support helps us to save and preserve the places that matter to all Blue Islanders, all year long.

People just like you, who understand that preserving the places and spaces that tell our stories is good for the soul and also good for the economy, by bringing in visitors, creating jobs and spurring economic development.

National Preservation Month is about celebrating the benefits of preservation. But it’s also about celebrating the preservationists who make it happen – people like you. Thank you for your involvement!
